Primary Presentation

Today was the Primary Program ... Here is my talk:

In John 13:15, the Lord said, “For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.”

Jesus Christ came to earth and set a perfect example for each of us to follow.  When I think of His example, I think of three main things – Obedience, Prayer, and Service.

Jesus was always obedient.  No matter what Heavenly Father asked Him to do, He did it!  He did not ask questions or try to get out of it .. He just always did exactly what His Father asked Him to do.  I can follow the example of Jesus by obeying my parents and by keeping the commandments.

All through the scriptures, there are examples of Jesus praying to Heavenly Father.  He often said we should pray “in all things” .. not just when we need something, or not just when we are sad .. but every day about everything that is happening in our life.  I can follow the example of Jesus by saying my prayers every day and learning how to really talk to Heavenly Father.

In Acts 10:38, it says that Jesus “went about doing good” – He showed us tons of examples where He put others before Himself.  He was always concerned with others and showed us the importance of being kind.  I can follow Jesus by always showing love to others and looking for ways to help people.

I know that if I do these things and follow the example of Jesus, I will grow closer to my Heavenly Father right now and be able to return to live with Him one day.  I know that the Holy Ghost will be stronger inside of me.  Most importantly, I know that following the example of Jesus is the best way to be happy.

I must say I did  a pretty good job on my parts. I gave my talk, and I also had a singing part. For my singing part I had to sing the three verses of "We will Follow the Lord" with my group.  We did pretty good but my group started too early and we weren't super loud but I think we still did good.

I was kinda nervous to give my talk, but people told me I did great. I might even get the Special Plate. I hope I get to speak in church again.

I also got a new dress ... WHICH I LOVE!!!  My Mom curled my hair and I was looking fine!!

Trick-or Treat

This year I went trick-or-treating with the Sands over in their neighborhood.  I was Merida this year from Brave.  I'll post some better pictures later of my costume.

Everly and Ashton were Ghostbusters with Beckett being the Stay Puff Marshmallow Man. Aiden was a zombie baseball player.

It was lots of fun and we got some great candy!

Pumpkin Patch

Today we went to the pumpkin patch and picked out pumpkins. Mine is big and has a swirly stem on it. I think I am going to carve either a witch or frankenstein.

They also had this really cool old truck.  You could sit in it and pretend to drive and take pictures.  It was really fun!

They had all kinds of pumpkins ... the pink looking ones are really cool.  We should decorate with those next year!!

Cousins Halloween Party

This weekend we had a Halloween Party with my cousins and the Sands.  We painted pumpkins first -- I painted mine pink, with a black stem and put a smiley face on it.

We played some games ...
Boo Bowling, which was really paper towels that looked like ghosts.
Spider Toss, which were these fake spiders that we had to get into the bucket.
Mummy Wrap, where we had to wrap up our person like a mummy.  That was super hard!!  The toilet paper kept ripping.

We did a monster piƱata, which was really fun.  Then we ate pizza and had cool desserts.  It was fun to play with the little kids.

Box Full of Sunshine

My teacher, Mrs Oglesby, has to have surgery and will not be at school for the next six weeks.  She was really sad about missing so much school.  I felt like we should do something for her to cheer her up so my mom and I put together an idea.

We decided to give her a box full of sunshine.

We bought tons of stuff that is yellow for the box so it would be like sunshine. We bought yellow trail mix, yellow caramel candy, yellow lip balm, yellow fruit thins, yellow fuzzy socks, and yellow lotion. we put it in the box and put polka dot ribbon on the box and a yellow flower.

I gave her the box and she looked at me kind of teary eyed and said she was overwhelmed. She kept calling me honey and sweetie pie. I have a feeling she liked it!

Republican Campaign Headquarters

Guess who is a staffer at the Republican Campaign Headquarters??!!

ME!!  Well, at least at Beck Elementary.  We are having a mock election.  We got to apply for a lot of different jobs, and both the Democratic and the Republican candidates are represented equally.  We are going to campaign for our candidates for the next few weeks, have speeches on election day, and all of the students get to vote.

I'm on the committee to help get Romney elected president.  We are planning lots of cool stuff to hand out, posters to make, and other ways to promote Romney.  I'm excited ... this is going to be cool!

I'm a SUPERHERO

I started the night as a normal kid ...

And then the party started!  My family was celebrating the birthdays of Aiden, Rachel, Dad, and Will.  We had a big superhero party!! But for us to become superheroes we had to apply for The Superhero Academy of course. My super hero name was Black Widow. The Superhero Academy accepted our applications and school began.

The first part of our superhero training was to defuse our balloon bombs by stepping on them. Next we had to knock over the evil villain two liter bottles with a soccer ball.  I managed to defeat two of the villains.

Then we turned around and there was kryptonite all over the lawn! Using the wooden dowels we had to dispose of the kryptonite into the buckets.  We had to use the dowels so we didn't touch the kryptonite because it is harmful to superheroes.

The next challenge was to test our aim.  We were given silly string to attack the villains (balloons).  We had to run and hit each one of the villains with the string.  We started out pretty good ... but then we ended up in a GIANT silly string fight, which was hilarious!!

Next we had to attack the evil Matt by chasing him the trapping him with hula hoops.  No matter what he said or did, we could not let him go.  Matt tricked us by throwing candy.  I totally stopped to fill my pockets with candy, and then continued to chase the villain.

Finally it came down to the super obstacle course. You had to punch the two punching bags, crawl through the tunnel, slide down the slide the dunk the ball through the hoop. In the end we graduated the Superhero Academy. We had a graduation ceremony and were rewarded with a super cape with our initials on it and a mask with our certificate.   We shook hands with the superheroes who came before us ... or our Dads!  We were officially superheroes!!

Here I am in my cape!

Here's our Justice League of Superheroes ... with our Dads!!

We celebrated with cake and ice cream.
Happy Birthday to Aidan, Rachel, And Dad!
We had a super good time!!

Dance

So I changed to a new dance studio .. It is called Dana's School of Dance.  I go two nights a week.  Monday night is jazz and Thursday night is ballet.
My teachers are super cool.  My ballet teacher works with my dad and she is really nice.  My jazz teacher is the same teacher than did my birthday party.  She is funny!
Let's just say is has been kicking my trash for the first couple of weeks. I am so freakin sore .. almost every night I have my mom rub down my back and legs and feet.

First Day of Choir

I started choir ... and I LOVE IT!!

There are so many kids in there!  4th and 5th graders sing together.  When we were first walking in, Mr. Garza was playing "Soul Sister" and dancing around.  He cracks me up.

We are practicing a lot of America songs because our first performance is for Veterans Day.  I am way excited .. they do a ton more performances than my last school.  We get to sing at the Christmas Tree Lighting in Trophy Club and a bunch of places.

Step by Step

On the first day of school, I walked out of my room and saw these AWESOME boots with a note.  They were really cute!!

The note was about taking the school year step by step .. making new friends .. learning .. getting involved in school.  It was kind of to the music of Hercules - I can go the distance!

It was very nice!

First Day of Fifth Grade

First day of school baby!!

I walked in a little nervous .. I said hi to the new girl, but she was way quiet.  I kept trying to make conversation, but she wasn't getting too into that.  Most of the kids were really cool and talked to me.  It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be.

Also, I sit across from Jake.  His Mom is one of Lex and Rach's favorite teachers at Byron.  He is cool too.

We spent almost the entire day unpacking all of our supplies, setting up folders, and getting ready.  During recess, I hung out with Gracie.  She is the little sister of one of Lex's best friends.  Before school started, Lex and Mackie took me and Gracie bowling.  The playground is really cool.

We had a 5th grade team meeting .. we have those all the time.  The teachers always tell us that all of 5th grade is a team and we have to work together.

We also got to meet the music teacher and the art teacher.  The music teacher is really funny.  We played music games and stuff.  I think I want to do choir again at this school.  He would make it really cool.  The art teacher is nice too.  She is kind of strict.  I think she will be cool too.

Meet the Teacher

I went out to school this morning to meet my teacher ... Her name is Ms. Oglesby.  She seems really nice.  I got to pick which desk I wanted.  I'm right next to another new girl named Grace.

I have a different teacher for math and science.  Her name is Ms. Horne.  She seems really cool.  This is her first year teaching, so she doesn't know anyone either.

I'm excited to start school tomorrow, but a little freaked out too!  I only know one person in the whole school!!  Wish me luck!!
